Hi, Rick,

Your idea is splendid! As an academician I have been thinking about the very same thing - a journal of scientific failure. My first question is whether you have managed to get such a journal off the ground. The second is, your background in science. The third concerns the resources you might contribute to help get such an effort going. I may be able to contribute enough to get the effort off the ground - professional connections, board of editors, and possibly some funding. Let me know what you think. My website is: http://home.earthlink.net/~jhorne18 so you can see what I have done in peer review settings. Anyone reading this and in a professional capacity, you are welcomed for participation, as well.

Yeah, I think the best option would be a requirement for open data to be released at some time after the associated publication. Of course it's hard to keep track of the data right now, but as results become more and more digitized, it should be easier to collect it all. Then we just need an extremely flexible architecture for organizing the data in a meaningful way.

2 words – grant money? looks like these days, anything that’s done for the good of the community is driven by grant money (ie. publishing raw data, contributing to collective ontologies, etc). so just convince those big funders of the value of a Journal of Progress :P .

tineye — cool! and scary.
